    Great park

This was a great park with great dogs. PLEASE be sure to take all your personal belongings out of your car. A couple cars including mine had windows broken and my purse was stolen.

    Great

this park is awesome but as said before some owners literally sit on a bench and let their dogs do whatever which is hard when you are trying to train your puppy to be around other dogs. that being said it’s beautiful and there really is a lot of space for your dog to run around. they even have a smaller dog off leash fenced in area so that the big dogs and small ones aren’t all together.

    Great Park For Your Pup!

My dog and I frequent this park. It’s roomy and completely fenced. Even if your dog is anti-social there are places that are more secluded.

    Nice big space

This is a great space for dogs. Big enough to get away from the group of people/dogs that gather under the canopy, small enough to keep an eye on your pup.

We are working on socializing our very nervous, very fearful 11 month old Shepherd and having a path that runs outside of the enclosed space is perfect for him.

Great friendly dog park just people need to pick up after their dogs

Brought my 7 month old german Shepard Labrador mix. He had a great time playing with all of the other dogs. A few people brought smaller dogs into the big dog area and they would bite at my dogs neck but he just put his paw on them and the owners apologized. My dog wasnt injured so i was fine as long as he was. But i was running arounf with my dog and there was poop everywhere. Maybe if you put dog bags and a trash can in the middle of the park people will clean up. But other than that we had a great time for the first time at a dog park.

Being my dogs here quite often. Have heard some small confrontations but what do you expect....the dogs are excited. My husky mix and English pointer love it here. It's totally fenced so if you have a husky you can appreciate large fenced areas to run. Great people here with their dogs. ????

    Love This Park

I absolutely love this dog park and so did my pup! There are three separate areas are for all sizes and one is for small dogs (under 25 pounds). They have drinking faucets for the dogs and many benches as well as a covered picnic area. The entrances are "holding areas" as to prevent any escapees (which is very thoughtful in my opinion).

    Not Good

This is the type of park where most owners stand under the hut while their dogs run around. Many people do not control their aggressive dogs. Some people will pick up after their dogs but their is always a lot of poop on the ground. Tacoma Police say they get several calls a week about violent and aggressive dogs. I will not return there with my Labradors unless it is at a time when there are no crowds. Ft. Steilacoom is better.

    Agree with Mike

Been there 4 times and have never personally had a problem, however, I seen aggressive dogs and owners not doing anything about it. Been told by 2 people (who do not know each other) that their dogs have been attacked, the owner of the other dog did nothing to help split them up and then wanted to get info from the people because he said he was taking his dog to the vet and wanted them to pay. It kind of sounds like maybe a money scam going on there. Not quite sure where to report this to so maybe someone can from time to time oversee this park. It's a shame too because it is a really nice park.

    Irresponsible owners frequently

This park draws lots of fun friendly dogs, however there are often irresponsible owners with aggressive dogs that ruin the park for everyone. I used to go quit frequently, but aggressive Rottweilers pinning my 20 dog to ground is unsettling. "If your dog fights back my dog will attack." Was the quote from Rot's owner. I'll never go back.

    Great Dog Park!

Wapito park is amazing!! There are three large sections one for little dogs, one for all dogs, and the third is a large forest type setting for all dogs. Everyone is always so nice and our dogs have a great time there!!

Best off leash park south of Seattle

Wapatao finally opened Thursday, 06/07/12. There is a fenced area for off leash dogs. There is a section for small dogs, big dogs, and all dogs. It's great! There is plenty of running space, including a walking trail. We went for the 1st time today, and my two small dogs loved it. We will be going back often. I highly recommend it for dog parents.
