Lots of space but nothing super special

I just moved to the area so Ive been checking out lots of dog parks in Denver. This one was recommended by fellow dog owners so I thought id give it a try. It was just okay. I would definitely go before it gets too hot as there is zero shade and not really any grass, just dirt, sand, gravel and dead bushes. Think its just the time of year as our fave park (cherry creek state park dog park) is similar but they have the creek.
It is great in the sense that its A TON of space for dogs and humans to roam but overall it was just okay. At one point someone told us to not walk any further because there was some "plague" in a certain area? Something with the prairie dogs or something? No idea but we just turned around anyways

    Dangerous- Beware of cars!!

This was our favorite place to take our three dogs. It has such a beautiful view and everyone who takes their dogs here is so friendly. Please please be absolutely sure of your dog's temperament and know for sure that your dog will not wander far from you. Our sweet dog of 10 years caught the trail of something, slipped through the fence and was killed be a car. It is so easy for dogs to get loose here. It's a lovely park, but it needs to have decent fencing being so close the road. We will not be bringing our dogs back here again.

Great park, use at your discretion!

The proximity of this park and the fact that is directly down wind from a "retired" plutonium plant is very scary. This was my favorite park until I started hearing some pretty scary things from locals about the proximity of the park and Standley Lake to the Rocky Flats National Wildlife Refuge (that wasn't supposed to open for many more years related to the Plutonium, etc.). We used to go daily but have since stopped because of scary stories about the plant- which is super unfortunate because we absolutely loved it there!

    Huge with many trails.

It is awesome and the best thing about it, is 98% of the people pick up after their dogs, so if you do visit it, PLEASE CONTINUE TO HELP KEEP IT CLEAN. Also every dog we've met, they've been friendly, so if you have one that isn't, don't bring them. Also, across from the top lot, there is a trail that crosses the road to Standley lake. You do have to keep a leash on that side of the road, but you can walk right down to the lake and view the Eagle's nest. Also saw a tree full of Commerants and their nests.

    Awesome Dog Park!

Our dog LOVES coming to this park! It's a huge park with tons of room for our little pup to run around and burn off some of her energy. There's a giant ditch that runs through the middle and has had water in it each time we've gone. Our dog isn't much into getting wet, but we've seen lots of dogs jump right in and seem to be having the best of times! The only downside to this park is there's not a lot of shade, so if the sun's out it gets hot very quickly! Bring lots of water for you and your pup and don't forget your hat!

    fantastic park!

We visited this park three times in just two days. Our dogs had a blast! I loved all the open space available as well as the creek that ran through.

Both me and my dog love it!

My dog loves to romp and play with the other dogs which brings me great joy to watch and I also get to walk the many trails and see the beautiful scenery. I highly recommend venturing up the hill on the trails to really take advantage of the wide open space and views. This park is a part of my daily routine now and my dog and I have a blast.

    our dog loves it!!!

Absolutely great dog park. We can really tire him out there. He does get dirty, but that's a bonus for him, at least. My husband runs with him there, lots of great trails.

Our dogs favorite place in the world!

We love Westminster Hills Dog Park! There are miles of trails, huge wide open spaces, a fun ditch and small ponds for dogs to splash around in, and usually tons of great dogs to play with. This is the perfect place for people and dogs who like to run because the place is so big and wide open. The only downsides: There's not a lot of shade, and sometimes the small pools are really muddy, which means you sometimes come home with a dirty dog. All in all, it's a great experience for our hyper dog and for our family!
