Macaualy Point Park is a migratory bird sanctuary.

Macaulay Point Park is a protected migratory bird sanctuary. Dogs must be on-leash from May 1st to October 31st. If you let you dog off-leash during this period you will receive a $300 fine and you will be encroaching on precious wildlife. Just your dog's presence will prevent migratory birds from breeding or feeding. This is not a dog park at all.

    Absolute best dog park!

This is by far the nicest off leash dog park we have ever been to…! Not only is the park like heaven for dogs, the views are stunning and the locals are very friendly .

    Disneyland for Dogs

Macaulay Point is like heaven for dogs. There are fields, hills, ocean, mud, beaches, a tunnel, a tower, and always other dogs to play with. It only has three access points to the road, one in the beginning, middle, and end, and all three are set far enough back from the main park, that the dogs can't get anywhere near the road. Other dog owners at this park are very friendly, and always happy to chat. Watch for kids though, some people don't realize its an off leash park.
My dog loves macaulay so much, that she starts barking as soon as we turn off esquimalt road.. she can sense the ocean!
Parking is busy in the summer with boats and trailers launching at the boat ramp, but in my experience, theres always somewhere to sneak a vehicle in. Hardly any boaters in the winter,

Vancouver Island Big Dogs Club loves......

Vancouver Island Big Dogs Club loves McCaulay Point Park! I organise our walks there sometimes. Its compact and good fun. We can let our dogs off leash which is a great bonus. Great views from there. There is parking, but often that's really busy with boats and trailers. However you can park on the street or in side streets nearby. Easy to find too.
