Cane Creek Mountains Natural Area in Snow Camp, NC is pet friendly. Your leashed furry friend can join you on one of their several trailheads from the parking lot. The Northern and Heartleaf are known to have more shade and fewer bugs. All endurance levels are welcome.

Cane Creek Mountains Natural Area is a new nature park in Alamance County NC. There are several trails that leave from the same parking lot. We did the Pine Hill Trailhead hikes for Heartleaf and Longleaf. Heartleaf was the better of the two and it looked like Northern Approach (which we didn't do) would also be nice.
