Slide Rock State Park, located just outside of Sedona, Arizona, is a 43-acre park in Oak Creek Canyon. This site gets its name after the slippery rocks that form a slick natural water chute. Visitors have been coming to this park to swim and catch a tan for generations. Leashed dogs are welcome in the park, but are not permitted near the creek and swimming areas.

    Pets allowed

I see that most people said dogs aren't allowed at the park. However if you read the park rules it specifically states all pets must be kept on a leash and attended to at all times. Slide rock obviously allows Pets, just not in the swimming area for sanitary reasons.

    some reviews misleading

some of the reviews that claim dogs not allowed in park are absolutely false. I recently was at park and we were allowed to bring our dog into park BUT dogs are not allowed at the water slide area. This to me is completely understandable for sanitary reasons. Leashed dogs are allowed anywhere elase in park with that one exception.

I am a snowbird... The internet says that Slide Rock is dog friendly...ONLY THE PARKING LOT!!. Big disappointment for us.. No dog - no Gene!!

    help with vacation planning

I rely on this site because it is BRING fido and not just any trip advisor site. If a dog is NOT allowed, how can anyone give them more than 1 bone--it is really misleading especially to out of towners.

Slide Rock is not for dogs. It's a tourist trap. Take your dog hiking 5 miles north to West Fork.

    Dogs Not Allowed

Dogs are not allowed in Slide Rock park - they are basically allowed in the parking lot only. They cannot hike into the recreation area. It's a bit of a bummer b/c I relied on this site in deciding to bring my dogs.

There are many other areas along the creek that are great for dogs - they can swim, hike and splash around in the water.

    no pet companion no me

I want a place my canine companion can join me in swimming, lounging and even dining. It is just me and my two dogs...they aren't welcome then neither am I. Longbeach WA is a friendly dog town...get with it sliderock.

    Dogs Not Allowed

I'm a local dog and I can tell you for certain that I am not allowed into Slide Rock State Park. However, there are beautiful hiking trails all around Sedona that allow me on the trail as long as I'm on a leash.

    Absolutely beautiful

The park is breathtaking & of course the kids absolutely loved sliding down all the rocks. Water was surprisingly a bit chilly for July in AZ. It was a great contrast though to the heat of the 105 degree day.

    No pets allowed

Slide Rock is definitely worth the trip. However, I was there Father's Day weekend 2011 and pets are not allowed in the park.

Went here with my Highschool. Greatest trip of my life. Beautiful scenery, and just overall breath taking. The water was cold but that didn't stop anyone from diving right in and of course going down the 'slide'
