This is a beautiful trail. It is also quite sunny, steep and about an 8 mile round trip. The trail surface is very hot from the sun and we saw many dogs with heat exhaustion on an 85degree day in late May. One husky had vomited and was hyperventilating. Be prepared. Bring lots of water for you and your dog and keep dogs prone to overheating off this trail on warm days. There are not too many good places to rest until you reach the top, only fresh water is at the base. The incline is steep most of the way. If you are prepared it’s a very pretty hike up to some super cool ruins with a great view at the top, wonderful flowers and lots to smell for your pup! Our Chiweenie had a fabulous time (though she did ask to be carried through some particularly sun baked stretches of trail)

Beautiful trail. My Shelby, and Bismark had a great time digging trenches, and holes! Great place to picnic, but the trail is somewhat steep. At least until you get to the last mile to the casino ruins. Absolutely amazing views from there. Bring decent amount of water, and good socks.
