    sad

Very sad to read these reviews. I am fairly new to the area and am looking for places to take my dogs. I myself am a responsible dog owner. My dogs are not dog friendly - however, they ignore other dogs unless approached - and I keep my dogs leashed and under control at all times. I would love to find an area where I can walk them with no concerns that unleashed dogs are going to approach us. Is there such a place in this area?

    Leash Law

Highland Park, like the rest of the city of Altoona, is used by the citizens of this town who are above the law and ignore the ordinances written by the City Council to make our town a nice place to live. What a joke. Over half of the ordinances are blatantly ignored. Do not take your dog to this park or walk down the street thinking your beloved dog will not be attacked, even by dogs whose owners have been "reported" for ignoring the law in the first place. I hate Altoona.

    Keep 'em Leashed!

My dog is leash reactive to other dogs. Having a park where this is enforced is key to myself, my dog and others as well to have a good time. Don't be so selfish, there are places to let your dog run, you're not the only people in the world, be considerate of others wanting to enjoy the world and love their dogs same as you. Keep them under control and your dog will be safe. Laws are for everyone, not just for a select few. Think of someone else but yourselves for a change!

    Highland Park Dogs

Highland Park is NOT a dog park. People are allowed to take their dogs into the park, but they are to be leashed. Dogs are not allowed to roam free there. It is also becoming a place where alot of dog owners are not cleaning up after their dogs. Unfortunately it will cause complaints and eventually no dogs allowed!

    Off-leash walking

Highland Park is not a dog park. It is a people park that dogs are allowed to be in. You are not allowed to have dogs off-leash in this park. You could be fined, thanks to a few complainers it has become a not so much fun place to take dogs.

    highland park

As far as walking dogs at highland park; it is becoming increasly harder to do, more people are frequenting the park and complaining about dogs being there. So it's not as nice as it once was.

    lovely but "unofficial" dog park

This is a lovely park with lovely people but it is not a legal dog park. There is no fenced in area. Letting your dog run off leash is prohibited. Signs everywhere state so. Very responsible dog owners have prevented this from being enforced.
