Not worth the drive unless you live in the area

the dog run is a sand park. is separated for small and big dogs, but the sand isn’t fun to run in with your pup and it’s not super clean. I wouldn’t go out of my way to come here unless I lived close by. parking is free in the off season and I was able to take my pup on to the beach in the winter off season as no one was here, but there are signs saying no dogs allowed so it’s at your own risk. I have seen cops patrolling a few weeks ago, still in off season, so definitely not worth the fine

This is fantastic. There is great dog runs and time for family. Like all beaches which don't allow dogs during summer sadly, but it great for an off-season trip.

    Dog Park or Dump?

If this is Long Island's idea of a typical dog park, then they have a lot to learn. The small dog area isn't much larger than an efficiency apartment maybe 15 feet wide and 30 feet long. The large dog area is slightly larger, but with only a handful of dogs (5-6) it was over crowded.

Don't expect any beach access with your dog, don't expect your dog to be able to do any time of running, and probably best to visit a vet after your visit to make sure it didn't pick up any parasites from all of the feces littering the 'park'.

Plus, if you go during a weekend, you have to pay $8 to park. The parking lot is 100x larger than the two sides of the dog park combined. It is absolutely not worth visiting this dog park, we will never return here.

    A complete mess!

This dog park is a mess! The park was never cleaned after sandy. The sand is filled with all kinds of things. The picnic tables are very dirty. There is a tarp that covers some of the tables. Although it is ripped and unsteady. They just put a bag station in. Least they can do. Your dog will leave completely filthy and who knows what else. Not worth the $8 fee!

DO NOT BRING DOGS ON THE BEACH

Do not expect to be able to bring your dog on the beach or the dunes. There is a fine and it is against Federal law to enter many of those areas. Use the established paths and keep your dog in the dog run.

It's not worth the fine, and a little common courtesy would be nice.

    parking fee

such BS that you have to pay 8$ to use a dog park in a county park that we pay taxes for.... Ceder Creek is Free as is Wantagh Park .... why is there a parking fee- ... i am not planning on using the beach with my dog so why must i pay a parking fee for beach access- get it together Nassau County!!!

There are two dog runs. One for the small dogs and one for the larger dogs. No dogs are permitted on the beach or in the dunes. They have endangered birds and grasses in the dunes. If your caught you can get a large fine. So please stay out of the dunes and off the beach so they don't close the run. It a good one.
