    Great day

We came in mid August so it was HOT. but we had a tent and plenty of water for fido and he curled up in the sand and got that good beach naps. He liked to walk down to the water and got to sniff some other pups enjoying the waves. Great experience, loved getting to live the beach life with him

Nags Head is very Pet Friendly

We just got back from Nags Head, and found the island to be welcoming to Dogs. From Hotels, to restaurants, to shops. The beaches that we went to allowed pets, and there were many. Dog owners were very responsible as well.

    Strong waves

our pups were able to go in the water on leashes. the waves were a bit too rough for their liking but still a really nice beach! we were able to go any time throughout the day as well, as long as they stayed on leashes!

    Perfect Beach

Nags Head beach is the place to bring your pup. The restrictions are lighter than other nearby beaches. Your pup is allowed on the beach, in season, with a ten foot leash. The public access points all have dog stations with waste bags.

    Fun Time!

A bit chilly (off season) but super fun and beautiful! Pippa is still not sure of that white foam and the noise of the waves but she’s a good sport

Took Murphy For His First Time To The Beach

Great location! Great place to go. There were a few big dogs and a few little ones and we had blast! No issues at all when an area is shared with responsible owners. There are no dog bags on the beach so you must bring your own for waste but there is a shower station for pups and a water bowl provided at the life saving station. Can’t wait to come back

    Paw-fect visit

This is our second year bringing our 40-pound mutt to Nags Head and I can't say enough good things. Follow the leash law and you won't have any issues. We found plenty of pups to play with on the beach near Jennet's Pier.

    Fun first beach experience

My 1 year old malamute had his first beach experience here in Oct 2015. Plenty of dog-friendly people, and plenty of other pups to romp around with.

    Great Time for the Pups

We spent a week in Nags Head and found the beach awesome for the dogs. Lots of other dogs around and most people are great about following the leash law. We had a blast! Our dogs enjoyed many long walks on the beach. So much fun!!

    My dog is always welcome

Been vacationing in Nags Head for nearly 20 years... we usually hit the Enterprise Street access when we don't go to Oregon Inlet. Lifeguards don't mind well behaved dogs being off-leash for fetch/swimming. Love that poo bags are provided as well as many trash cans and the shower/spigot offers a fresh water source (a kids' sand bucket makes a good water bowl)

    Dog-Friendly Ice Cream Stand

Nags Head is pretty dog-friendly. We were able to take our 60-pound dog on the beach almost any time we wanted. We visited in mid-August. We stayed along the beach around mile post 12 (I think near Jockey's Ridge) and there was a cute little soft-serve ice cream stand that we visited several evenings during our stay. They had special dog-friendly ice cream treats to give our pooch -- he became a regular for the week!
