Sandy Beach/River Park

Sandy Beach/River Park is a great dog park. There are lots of dogs to play with, lots of garbage cans for poo bags, plenty of parking, benches and picnic tables, a dog water fountain, and access to the river. To get to the river you must do down a pretty steep path and through a small "on-leash" area but once you cross the bridge there is a small forested area and places for the dogs to play in the water. There is also a nice path that is good for humans! It is gravel so no rollerblading but bikers and strollers can get around this park well. Great for runners too!

Clean Respectful Dog People!
If you are looking for a clean dog park with non discriminating dog lovers - this is the place to go. Most dogs are well behaved as it is not fenced! I have been coming with my dogs for the last 10 years - and more so recently - and with a pack of bully breeds - there is no discrimination, and everyone plays in harmony. It is always clean and everyone cleans up after themselves - and the view of the Calgary skyline is gorgeous! It is also minutes downhill from the calm part of the river for the dogs to cool off in!

In Max's opinion - River Park and Sandy Beach Park are the best dog parks in Calgary. There are always ALOT of friends there. It's clean with a beautiful view of downtown Calgary and the river. Max can stay up top (River Park) and visit or walk down to Sandy Beach to play in the water. Love it!
