Needs a segregated small dog area

Single fenced area for dogs or all sizes. Dirt/dusty (no grass). Not much shade. Don't know who posted that this is one of the best around SD, that is simply not true. Mostly all agressive breeds when we went no small dogs. Needs a segregated small dog area. Free parking but could use more parking area. Restroom in people part of the park.

    Large, ample space park

I mentioned this in the picture posted but my dogs and I really enjoy this park. It’s a large area and is enclosed which makes it feel safe. there’s lots of room to just hang out with you’r dog(s) alone or to mingle and be social. There’s many trash cans and baggies to clean up though some people may not, but that’s somewhat to be expected (unfortunately there’s always someone who doesn’t clean up after their pet). Balboa park is just up the hill so that’s a plus.

    Nice people, but eh.

The people here are nice, but by the end of my outing two dogs came that the others said were not very nice. My dog was the only small breed there and instantly the dog got aggressive with each dog there. We left.

The park itself was nice, a lot of diet. Parking was a nightmare and there was a surprising amount of homeless people around as well

    Great Idea ....

This is the very first puppy activity I did with my puppers Bruno. Love the space and gated area, its always a plus to walk around Balboa park after. But, there are a lot of irresponsible pet owners and aggressive dogs; My puppers is high energy and likes to play bite (something I am working on) but none the less its a Labrador Retriever (Very nonaggressive breed); Hate how some people are not well informed and judge, even more when they bring small dogs (who in my opinion tend to be the most aggressive). Also some owners don't even pick up after their pets waste...gross. It's a dog park...get ready to get dirty and friendly dogs that are excited to say hi......

One bad dog spoils the whole bunch

We have 3 dogs 2 14 year olds and one 9 month old. A lady who could barely hang on to her male aggressive dogs should have been an indication of how it would be once they were let off leash. They tried to aggressively dominate every dog in the park. We had to leave as well as 2 other people because of those 2 male dogs. We won't be back.

    Not the picture

The photo shown is Morely Field which is *not* fenced.

Nate's at Balboa is great though. Super spacious and fenced in. unfortunately, maybe due to weather, there is absolutely no grass and it is pure dirt.

    Responsible Owners Park

We went to another park for my 5 month old as a first experience and it was horrible. irresponsible owners who let their aggressive dogs growl and snip at her. One of the owners even used a shock collar on his and it still wouldn't stop attacking. I then went to this park and it was amazing. Very responsible owners. Dogs are friendly and there is a lot of space to run. Totally fenced off and just a great place to take your dog to be social.

    So far, wonderful

Nice, fenced, off leash dog park. We've been here about 5 times and so far it seems like a pretty friendly park- people and puppy wise.

    small dogs ok

I wish more small dogs would come here. I have a small female dog and bigger dogs just love her here. This is a great park though. Non peak times seem to be better for her. Bring your small dogs!!

Large fenced in park with great views of the tall museums at Balboa park and the canyons surrounding. Lots of bigger dogs here.

    nice park

I was in town visiting for a day. Just checked out of our hotel in Little Italy and found a dog park near by. It's large fenced in and the other dogs and owners were great.

    BIGGEST DOG PARK

Nates is a great park, there are squabbles on occasion which is normal for dogs to do to establish dominance. Owners and dogs are well behaved most of the time. On occasion we have our social misfits who come around the park but are watched and scooted out by many regulars. Dog park etiquette is usually followed except by very few . I think everyone would agree letting people know that their dog has done a business is not rude but helpful since sometimes we just miss what they are doing.

    Nate's Point

I feel this is the best leash free dog park in San Diego (Laurel and 6th Ave). Everyone is attentive to their dogs; they pick up after them and they make sure their dog is behaving well with others (some parks I've run into owners who believe "let them work it out", "it's a pecking order thing". Please, go to another park if you believe in these ideas). Most people are happy to be there and want their dogs to mingle or just play!
