    Love this Beach

I was so impressed with this doggy beach that my pup and I went again the next day! It’s a huge beach with plenty of room for running and playing. All the dogs there were happy and friendly. The beach area was clean with lots of spots to sit in the sand and watch the dogs have fun. I’m so glad my pup got to enjoy his first beach experience on his first birthday at Dog Beach! We will definitely be regulars at this great doggy beach!

    Nice, friendly off-leash dog beach!

The park was clean. The dogs that were in the water, around the park and in the dog-specific beach area were all great! We did not run into any aggressive dogs, they were all friendly & sweet! Owners were watchful and trusted their well-behaved pooches off-leash in the dog area. On-leash is required everywhere else in the park, which is nice.

There is a kayak & paddleboard rental shop onsite that allows you to kayak with your dogs too!

The water is a little "gunky", pretty greenish and had all of the little floaty things from the trees above. Still, not too bad and at least didn't smell dirty. You'll want to bathe your dogs after they swim in this water, in my opinion. We certainly did!

    Perfect day

Went on a Sunday (first week of Aug.) so there was a line to get in ($12/day on weekends) and it was crowded, but we had an AMAZING day playing in the sun and water with the friendliest humans and canines. Finally a place where I can "swim" with my dog! (Technically, humans can't swim at the dog beach, but are allowed to wade in hip-depth.) One of our friendly beach-neighbors even let me and Daisy borrow one of their paddle boards....guess what Daisy wants for Christmas?

    New friends everywhere

I traveled from Co Springs up north to spend a little fun day with my dog. He had so much fun. It was a great place. I plan on traveling again with all my dogs to enjoy some water time. Dogs were everywhere and not one altercation. People were very friendly. Overall, fairly clean. It is a $10 entrance fee per car on weekdays and $12 fee for weekends. Inside the park you walk down a narrow gravel path and there are a lot of shade trees. You walk about 5 steps over a grassy area to get to the sand of the beach and there were a few places where people had not seen or neglected to pick up dog feces. But overall, from what I could tell everyone was having a good time and being responsible. There were a few trash cans to throw away waste. Lots of picnic tables in the shade. Lots of people renting paddle boards and kayaks taking their dogs out in the water. People were swimming with their dogs. It was a lot of fun. Mostly clean, easy to access. If your dog doesn't get along with other dogs, your dog probably won't like it. The fence has been updated with more wiring and is more secure. There is a gravel road about 20 feet behind the bench. If you have a dog that is not too obedient and scares easily, you might keep a close eye on him or her. The traffic goes about 20-30 mph. It was a well used road.

    So Much Fun

Love love love this place! What a great stop after days of being cooped up traveling. Plenty of room to swim and a nice fence between the beach and the road. Highly recommend if your pup loves to swim!

Our favorite thing to do together

Although Cherry Creek dog park is in our back yard, we take Union Reservoir any day!! It is a little over an hour drive for us, but Logan and I love this beach so much we just make a day of it! We pack a cooler and Logan's duck and ball and we are set for the day! The fences are not secure, but if your dog has good recall and loves the water, it really isn't an issue. You can get in (up to your waste) and cool off with them and play with them in the water. We try to do Union Reservoir at least 5 times a summer.

    great beach, but not secure

The water is great, and much cleaner then the poop ponds in chatfield. It is a huge reservoir so the water isn't a stagnant bacteria breeding pond. Like mentioned before. There is a dirt road not 10 feet from the fence. I went early afternoon and it was being used quite often. The fence is 3 strands of barbed wire. If your dog does not recall i wouldn't risk it. The sides of the dog area have no fence at all. I took two dogs and one is a beagle mix. She kept trying to wander off to smell. It was very stressful trying to watch my dog that loves water, and my dog that kept wandering off. I won't be taking my beagle back unless i have two pairs of eyes.

    okay park

I went to the park in the morning. It was a nice looking beach. There is a dirt road no more then 15 ft from the beach which was being heavily used when I was there. There was a fence that ran between the beach and the road, but it was a four wire type fencing. The sides of the park had no fencing at all, so it's very important your dog will come back to you and not be a wanderer(like my half beagle).

    Puppy Beach!!!!

Nice place to take the dogs. I was pretty impressed. Its a nice long stretch of beach that they give the dogs to play on. Is nice because they let you go waist in to play with your dogs. The sand is a little rough on your bare feet after a while. Next time I will be bringing water shoes. It's true that the fence around is not the highest quality but it kept my little ones in, and plus hopefully like my dogs, your dogs are too busy playing in the water to even be up around the fence. I did think the cost was a little much just to spend a couple of hours there. It was $8 not 6 for one vehicle. If you make a day trip it might not be to bad but again a little much if your only gonna stay an hour or two

    Small but nice

We took our three dogs here in February. The beach was only about 12 feet wide at the most, but since many picnic tables were almost in the water, I think the water was high. The road runs along the beach and our dogs could have easily gotten through the fence--we really had to watch them. That being said, our dogs had a blast. They would have given it 5 bones, but the fence brings it down for me.

    OK dog beach

First of all, the photo is not of Union Reservoir. That photo is in the mountains. The dog beach is fine if your dog doesn't run off. The road is right next to the dog area with only a wire fence.

    Very nice dog beach

Great dog beach, has tables and doggie bags to use. The only problem I had with it was the dirt road was very close by and the fencing was poor- keep an eye on your dogs!

    Great place to swim!

We took our Doberman puppy to Union Reservoir Dog Beach to teach him how to swim. Its the only place near by where we can all get in and swim for only $8. They don't like people being in over their waists but it goes deeper than that and the lifeguards aren't watching the dog area. The dog beach is off to the side of the regular swim beach so you don't have to worry about your dog bothering other non-dog people. My only concern was that the dirt road was really near the beach and only separated by a barb-wire fence. We can't wait to go back!
