was't impressed

Boyd Lake State Park

I went to boyd lake and thought there would be a lot of open grassy areas with a place my dog and I could sit in the shade and kick the ball around, but I drove more than halfway through the park and couldn't find a spot I liked or that wasn't already taken. The water was murky, swampy and it there were bugs everywhere. It might be a great place for families to go boating and do water sports, but I was not impressed. I was only there less than 30 minutes and asked to get a refund, but to no surprise, it was not an option. Dogs have to be on leash everywhere. There was not a place for off leash play. I guess that is normal for state parks.

New friends everywhere

Union Reservoir Dog Beach

I traveled from Co Springs up north to spend a little fun day with my dog. He had so much fun. It was a great place. I plan on traveling again with all my dogs to enjoy some water time. Dogs were everywhere and not one altercation. People were very friendly. Overall, fairly clean. It is a $10 entrance fee per car on weekdays and $12 fee for weekends. Inside the park you walk down a narrow gravel path and there are a lot of shade trees. You walk about 5 steps over a grassy area to get to the sand of the beach and there were a few places where people had not seen or neglected to pick up dog feces. But overall, from what I could tell everyone was having a good time and being responsible. There were a few trash cans to throw away waste. Lots of picnic tables in the shade. Lots of people renting paddle boards and kayaks taking their dogs out in the water. People were swimming with their dogs. It was a lot of fun. Mostly clean, easy to access. If your dog doesn't get along with other dogs, your dog probably won't like it. The fence has been updated with more wiring and is more secure. There is a gravel road about 20 feet behind the bench. If you have a dog that is not too obedient and scares easily, you might keep a close eye on him or her. The traffic goes about 20-30 mph. It was a well used road.

Great dog friendly place

Best Western Plus Loveland Inn

I would definitely go back. This location is off I25, so I was concerned about safety and traffic noise. I never heard the traffic and the hotel is completely surrounded by fence. There is a very nice fenced in green courtyard with a big gazebo and the outdoor pool. The pool is fenced in for additional safety. There were a lot of rabbits in the courtyard. I was impressed at how nice it was, secure and clean. When nobody was in the area, I let my dog off leash. However, they do have a designated dog area too. It was also well kept and clean, providing dog bags and a separate trash for dog waste removal. The breakfast was good with fresh fruit, waffles, Danish, eggs, sausage and more. They typical Best Western set up. They offered fun activities such as piano bar, karaoke and trivia on weekends. I didn't go, but sounded nice. Overall, very happy. The concierge were fabulous. They were kind, patient and very friendly. I would highly recommend this place.
