A visit to James Island County Park is a great way to spend an afternoon in Charleston with your pup. Said to be the best dog park in Charleston, this park features a dog beach, four acres of open grassy space, a cleaning station, fenced play area for small dogs, and waste stations.

The Fort De Soto Park has large fenced areas for both large and small dogs, including dog showers for those hot days. Dogs are allowed anywhere in the park on a six-foot leash, except on any beach. The Paw Playground area is the exception -- dogs are allowed on the beach, and they are allowed off leash on that area of beach. They can also run free inside the fenced areas. On a hot summer day, you can cool off your dog by hosing him down, and drinking water is available too. The park also has plenty for two-legged visitors too -- an old Spanish fort to explore, gorgeous parks, overnight camping with plenty of amenities, and picnic areas. The north beach was named "America's #1 Beach" in 2008 & 2009 by TripAdvisor.

Pets are permitted in Grand Canyon National Park. Pets must remain on a leash at all times. Pets are allowed on trails above the rim, Mather Campground, Desert View Campground, Trailer Village and throughout the developed areas. Pets are not permitted below the rim, in park lodging (hotel rooms), or on park buses. On the North Rim pets are not allowed other than the bridle path that connects the lodge with the North Kaibab Trail. A kennel is available at the South Rim only. It is open daily from 7:30am - 5pm. Call (928) 638-0534 for information. Reservations are suggested.

The historic French Quarter, located in the heart of New Orleans, is the Crescent City's oldest neighborhood. A combination of great food, beautiful architecture and live music serve as the perfect backdrop for a great vacation with Fido. Take your dog for a stroll along the streets of the Vieux Carre, browse offerings at the market, and share a beignet with your favorite pooch. He'll thank you for it.

See Savannah in a dog-centric way on the Oliver Bentleys Historic Dog Walk Tour. Designed and tailored specifically for you and your dog, this tour gives you and your pup the opportunity to sniff out Savannah's historical sites while you hear more about this beautiful city. There is a limit of two dogs per human, and all dogs must be leashed. The tour begins at the center of Oglethorpe Square (on Abercorn St.), runs about 90 min's and is less than a mile stroll through historic Savannah. As an added bonus, every dog on the tour receives a complimentary bag of Oliver Bentleys own original recipe Ollie B. Biscuits.

Although dogs are not allowed in the Dollywood amusement park, visitors traveling to the Smoky Mountains with their dogs can leave Fido at Dollywood's very own kennel, Doggywood, for the day while they visit the park. The kennel even has a few individual cottages for dogs needing a little extra privacy. Due to space limitations, it is extremely important that you call in advance for reservations on the day you plan to visit the park. Dogs cannot be accommodated overnight.
