Great Atmosphere With So So Food

This place is super dog friendly, has a fun atmosphere and a great beer and cider list. Food was pretty mediocre. For example, the queso seemed like it came from a grocery store jar. Nevertheless, we and our dogs enjoyed it.

    they love dogs!

Wonderful outside area that’s shaded and has fans. They will bring your pup ice water to sip on and love on them. Very dog friendly!

    Great food and hospitality!

Had lunch there at least four times with our 9 month old puppy. Service was friendly each time and food was really good. Highly recommended!

    Great patio!

Went in the early afternoon on a Sunday, our pups were very welcome, and there were several other dogs there as well, all were brought water when they arrived. Food was very good and I absolutely LOVED the Frozen Pain Reliever with a floater of rum on top, must try if you like a good drink!

    Not so welcome...

From all the reviews I thought this would be the perfect place to bring my pup for my first night in Charleston. I was so wrong! For a place that's supposed to be pet friendly, our small dog was not very welcome. All the servers and other customers looked at us sitting with our dog as if we were doing something wrong by having her in there. Along with the not so nice service, there are bugs everywhere! It's hard to enjoy your food when the bugs won't leave you alone. Also, the food wasn't very good either. Definitely won't be going back.

    Patio for pups

Our two mid-sized dogs were greeted warmly and given water. Hung out under the table while we enjoyed the atmosphere and our delicious dinner. Other dogs of various sizes there that evening.

Saw an add for Fuel in Southern Living and have had it on my list to try - had lunch there with my husband and our 2 yorkies - lots of people with their pets present - delicious food! Will definitely come back - lots on the menu I still want to try - really great patio to dine with your 4-legged friend -

Fabulous place to dine with your dog

We stopped in to have lunch at Fuel with our two Welsh Terriers while traveling through Charleston. After reading the reviews this sounded like THE lunch spot and it was! Really nice comfortable large patio on the rear with several fans to keep the space cool. The staff were friendly to our dogs and is too! I had the mahi mahi tacos with fried plantains, which were THE most delicious plantains I have ever had! The tacos were amazing! My husband had the chicken sandwich which was also amazing! Fresh food, great staff and a unique restaurant concept make Fuel a not to miss dining experience!

    Best outside courtyard for dogs

We ate here last month and the food was good. The staff was very friendly toward our dogs that we had with us and asked lots of questions about them. Had several guest ask questions about our dogs while there also. Water was brought out to the dogs quickly and the staff stop and talked and interacted with the dogs thru the lunch. We would return to this place. What stands out in our mind from other places we eat at with our dogs is their patio area. So far its the best we have been to since we started exploring restaurants that we are allowed to take our dogs too.

    Go here

We took our 5 month old pup there for his first restaurant outing and it was great here. We sat at the outside seating area where there were 3 other dogs and they all got along and played together. The wait staff brought out water and would pet the pups when they got a chance, our guy loves the attention. The food was incredible too, there was a bit of a wait, but it was also trivia night on Memorial day weekend so that's as to be expected. We will definitely be visiting here again.

    Loved it!!!

My husband and I, our 90 pound Great Pyrenees mix and our not quite two year old toddler gave Fuel a try after reading the awesome reviews on Bring Fido. We were SO HAPPY we did! Super cool place, great food and friendly service. They even brought our dog her own water bowl. She was so happy to sit at our table with us while we enjoyed lunch. We sat on the patio and there were other patrons with their dogs as well. Someone even had a rabbit! Haha! I saw a waitress bring the rabbit a carrot. Overall a relaxed and friendly atmosphere and super food! We recommend the Ho Cakes! Yum!

    This place is awesome!

Such a welcoming and awesome find. They really go out of their way to accommodate dogs and their people. Quicken tacos are the bomb and so are the ho cakes. Heaters on back patio make sitting outside enjoyable in the winter. Awesome to be able to interact with the locals and get other dog friendly tips for around town as well.

Delicious food and a great patio area. We went for dinner and it was colder out. When you are seated outside, they turn on the nearest outdoor heater for you making the temperature very comfortable. You must walk through a short section of the restaurant to get to the outdoor patio. Our dog was very welcome and they made sure to bring us a water bowl for her. We would definitely recommend this restaurant to fellow dog-owners and would suggest the pork tacos!

    Highly recommend!

Great place! We loved the friendly staff. the food and the dog friendly patio! Both the hostess and the server brought out water for our dog before we ordered our drinks! Also the patio is covered so that we could enjoy our dinner even during a thunderstorm.

Good food and good for dogs!

My husband and I took our 1-year old daughter and our two dogs (50 lb lab mix and 35 lb mix) here for a late lunch on a Saturday. It wasn't too crowded. All the girls who work there were really sweet about the baby and the dogs! We sat out on their large back patio area. They brought the doggies a bowl of water with ice cubes. The food was really delicious too- chorizo burger, ho cakes and corn bisque. Yum. Definitely recommend if you have a furry friend and want some good food!

    The Best

My wife and I stopped at Fuel as we were traveling through the southwest on our way to Maryland, stopping in each state to enjoy some of the local cuisine and check out a few hotspots. Of all the places we went, Fuel was the absolute best. We picked it after seeing it on DDD and seeing all of these glowing endorsements on Bring Fido, and we were not disappointed. First of all, they allowed us to bring both of our large dogs onto the patio. Our waitress and the entire staff were incredibly nice and accommodating. She brought them water, which was great. The afternoon was hot, but it was cool on the patio, and the atmosphere was fun. But on top of all that, the food was UNBELIEVABLE! Probably the best French Fries I've ever tasted, and the braised pork tacos were amazing! My wife got the Caribbean Jerk Chicken sandwich and sweet potato fries and it was just as good if not better. This is by far the best stop we've had on our whole road trip.

    Excellent food!

Fuel is a superb venue with a beautiful patio and truly excellent food. They welcomed our Jack Russell and the service was great. Best meal we had in Charleston!

    Great place, great food

We read the reviews here and decided to give it a try. We were so happy we did! Maggie was welcome on the outdoor patio, which was absolutely adorable, with lots of shade, and very clean. The food was delicious (still thinking about the sweet potato fries) and we recommend it to all pet owners.

    Awesome Atmosphere

Fuel was absolutely one of our favorite stops in all of Charleston. Not only was it incredibly dog friendly (fresh water bowls and lots of attention from the staff) but the food was outstanding too! Really loved the Veggie Tacos and the fries were great. It was so refreshing to be able to bring our dogs (two beagles) onto the back patio and have a relaxed dinner instead of being stuck on a crowded patio by a busy street like most restaurants. We really loved Fuel and hope to be back soon!
