    Veterans Parkway

    Veterans Parkway is one of 1600 rail-trails supported by Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, a nonprofit organization that is working to create a nationwide network of trails from former rail lines and connecting corridors. Previously an unused railroad corridor, this "rail-trail" is now a great place to walk Fido in Hermosa Beach! The map below shows a parking area with convenient access to the Veterans Parkway.       Great, long, easy and lovely long walk.

      This is a nice, long, easy, wide, well shaded path through the middle of the “tree section” in Hermosa Beach’s and Manhattan Beach’s residential communities. If you’re looking for a hike in the mountains, this isn’t it. if, however, you want a good long walk (approx 3.5 miles one way) with a lot of foliage, water fountains, benches and trash cans and where you don’t have to walk on pavement - this is perfect. it is flanked by a street on either side, but traffic is light and quiet. You have to cross several streets during the walk, but there are cross walks and stop signs at each (with a couple of traffic lights too).
