Head's Pond Trail

Head's Pond Trail is one of 1600 rail-trails supported by Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, a nonprofit organization that is working to create a nationwide network of trails from former rail lines and connecting corridors. Previously an unused railroad corridor, this "rail-trail" is now a great place to walk Fido in Hooksett! The map below shows a parking area with convenient access to the Hooksett Rail Trail. Great location with lots of on-leash dogs

Gorgeous setting to walk you dog on-leash. There is signage at the trail head requiring it. Lots of wildlife and spots for your furry friend to check out the water. Definitely recommend.

    Great walk!

Traveled here from CT for the day and it didnt disappoint. Great hike. With a great swimming spot. My pup enjoyed this very much. Very few people, passed 4 others on the trail. Mostly shaded as well.

It's a great trail minus people with offleash dog's thst claim they are highly trained. One tried to hurt my smaller dog. We do have leash laws in this town. Respect it. The leash is for your dogs safety and other dogs. Also don't leave poop bags along the trail its gross.

    Nice, simple, beautiful but ...

If you're like me and have a well trained dog that is great off leash, you're looking for a place where you can let them off the leash and start hiking. This place isn't really that. Most people keep their dogs on leash. So when we're walking, we're constantly putting on the leash when we get near someone with a dog, then taking the leash off once we pass. It's not that relaxing kind of hike that I would prefer. That said, there are two beautiful lakes (ponds?) where your dog can swim.

    My dog LOVES it here

This is a great trail especially in early mornings. People do often leave their dogs poop in bags alongside the trail and one house located there loves to make you think there dogs are going to attack you but the electric fence keeps them inches from you! Other than that once you get further in it is great! Wonderful spot to see blue herings....
