Rails to Trails in Chehalis, WA, US is a beautiful place to walk your dog. Many families walk there each day. The former Rail Road tracks have become a walking/jogging/biking trail that runs all the way to the Pacific Ocean. There are some bridges that are under reconstruction at this time. The mostly blacktop single car lane width trail runs across the Chehalis river, through farm country, past the Rainbows Falls Park area, continuing through beautiful country all the way to the ocean.. The trail is classified as a park and maintained and patrolled by park staff. There are free places to park, some requiring a park pass along the trail. You can walk sections each visit, then park in a different spot and actually walk your way to the beach over time. There are many birds to be seen along the way including; Bald Eagles, many types of water fowl/ducks, White Swans, Robbins.... The trail is used year round including after dark when there is a night sky event. We, along with many others families, flocked to the trail to experience the lunar eclipse several years ago. I give this dog friendly walk 5 out of 5 stars!
