    Problem with water quality

Due to recent construction on the new ferry terminal in Mukilteo the old "tank farm" has been removed. My dog came back from swimming and retrieving sticks itchy and pawing at her reddened eyes. If you dog doesn't swim, it is a great beach. Take care to call your dog back from the railroad tracks. They are actually in the on-leash are, but the boundaries are casually observed and hard to draw on a big beach.

    Fun Off Laesh Area

This park has a couple great stretches of sand for dogs to do zoomies on. The beach is long and narrow, so if you're trying to avoid other dogs it's difficult. There's is a section with a LOT of barnacles, but the dogs don't seem to mind walking on it, but no zoomies. This park is not ADA compliant, there are steep stairs down to the beach front, no way to get down otherwise. Not fenced in really, you have to trust your pup knows to stay nearby.

Awesome location, friendly pups and people

Juno’s first time off-leash at the beach and she had a blast! Water is really calm, which was good for her, since she’s not a strong swimmer. Lots of friendly pups and vigilant owners. There is an adjacent dry-play area for dogs that don’t want to swim, or who want to dry off in-between splashes. Parking is okay. Overall a wonderful day!

    Less than one bone!

There is an ACTIVE train in this actual dog park and it is not fenced off at all. I have fairly obedient dogs but any well-trained dog could become distracted by a loud train. I can't believe this park is as popular as it is because it's totally unsafe. I'm actually blown away by how unsafe this place is.

    Nice place

Met a super nice lady, white Subaru with a dog named Sparky, that was a pleasant surprise. She filled me in on the area and me and Arlo went exploring. Fun park, it's great exercise for me as well as there are plenty of stairs to traverse. One downside is that there are a lot of non dog people there. One family got upset that my dog went to say hi to them, yet there was a HUGE sign saying off leash dog park about 10 yards from them. I just leashed my 3 month old pup and headed home. We will go back and maybe a slower time of date.

A Lot Of Space At Low Tide

Love this park! Whole beach is a dog park. When it is warm out it can get crowded and people without dogs will have beach picnics. But I’m the mornings and at low tide there is no other place my pup and I would rather be.

    Great Park!

Love it! The off leash area is nice, but it is not fenced in so dogs should have a good recall. Evo enjoyed it very much!

small beach to let your pup play

We went here on a dreary Saturday morning it, we pretty much had the place to ourselves. Beach was clean, we stayed for more than an hour. Lots of fun for the pup, especially if they like to swim!

    Gorgeous

Howarth is in a great area and I was so happy when they made a OLA there. It is a saltwater park so look at your tide chart. If the tide is up there will not be a lot of area to run, but with the tide down your dog will have a large expanse to play. The area is not fenced and not obviously marked so there will be the occasional family having a picnic in the the OLA that do not like dogs. There is no handicap access, as when you park you have to walk 100 yards on a boardwalk then climb about 25 steps to cross over the railroad tracks then descend about 100 steps to the beach. The last piece of advice I would suggest is hide your valuables when you park, as there have been car prowls in the parking lot. But it is gorgeous.

    LOVED IT !

I absolutely loved it. A little confusing as to where the park is exactly as the directions didn't lead me well but after so long, we found the area. Swimming on her own, playing with the rocks under the water. She has a blast and I enjoyed watching her have it! I love it.

    Happy Dog

As of Feb, 2013, my pup and I have been enjoying this park regularly for about 6 weeks. It is a 10 minute drive, so it is very close. Gracie, my 7 month Bouvier, loves the beach, and sand here. Since it is winter season, there are not that many people here - I expect that will pick up in April or May when the weather starts to get nice. I have not seen any glass, or really any litter - probably because it is "off-season" for party-ers. We love it, and will continue coming back.

    happy dog owner

I have been to this park several times with my very energetic corgi shepherd mix pup. She loves any off leash area that has lots of dogs but I worry about her when I am here. I think this is a "party" beach and there is SO much broken glass. I try to pick some of it up when I am there...be VERY careful bringing your dog here!!!

    We had great fun

My 4 Golden's and I visited today for the first time. We did check tides and went at the optimal low tide. We did have a little hike to the water as the Olympic parking area was shut down this winter because of fallen trees. Hope that opens soon. The hike from the upper park was beautiful. We did have to maneuver stairs, bridges, exposed tree roots to get to the water. I have an injured knee but the Golden's took it slow on my behalf. It was well worth it. I will be posting pictures as soon as I can. We will be back soon!
