Recently took one of my dogs here after a parade event near the french quarter, gorgeous grounds, was a lot of fun! We saw plenty of other dogs, got a café au lait, and took a little stroll around near cafe du monde. Everything was nice, only thing is, don't allow your pup to drink from the pond! They have designated water fountains with doggie bowls too, which I'm happy about.

Visited here recently and really enjoyed the park. I know lots of folks would prefer to have off leash parks with acres of land but some folks just don’t care about the safety of their pups or others. They nice park has a dog park within its space. You can fill out the application online, fast and easy. They respond promptly and you can always pay in person when you pick up the key anyway (which you have to do regardless if you apply for the permit). It’s worth the money they charge. Well behaved dogs, dog looks, fire hydrant fountain and play grounds for the pups. Small and large dog areas. Outside of the dog park you can always walk your pups on leash, hate when folks do off leash, especially if their dogs just come running up to a leashes pet. It’s so rude and shows lack of manners/training (it’s like soemone coming up to you and touching your hair or your body/belly without permission). It all about the approach, we know their animals but you can also train your pups. It’s folks who don’t follow simple rules that ruin it for all of us who want more dog friendly places. I would definitely recommend this park for its ease of use, proximity to town, and affordable price.

City Park is a beautiful and spacious area to bring ur dogs for a great change of scenery and exercise. But please do remember to keep ur curious pet on a leash for two important reasons. One, it's the law, Two, for the safety of ur pet. Coyotes have been spotted quite often in this area and news reports that a handful of small pets that were off leash have been killed by the coyotes. Also, please do not let ur dog cool off in the waters of City Park. Just recently (Oct, 2015) a pet dog narrowly escaped the formidable jaws of a very large alligator who resides, along with several of his comrades, in the waters of City Park. I wouldn't even allow my dog to sneak a drink from the edge of the water in fear of the worst. So please be careful!!! Thank u!!!

City Park runs north to south. The north side of I-10 contains an abandoned golf course (the south side of Filmore, between Marconi and Wisner). Very few people. Lots of space for dogs.
