    Mosquitoes galore

Was bitten several times within a minute of being there. Heavily wooded area. Quite a small pace for the dogs with some short trails. Seriously tons of mosquitoes.

Brickworks just part of a great trail system.

I've been walking my dog along the trials here for years. If your dog is better off leash, then avoided the fenced in portion. Walk south,on leash, along the Beltline trail. It ill curve to the right and you will come to a fork of two trails. Both are off leash. Follow Milkmans Lane trail and it climbs steeply up to the neighborhood of Rosedale. Once you exit the trail there is a park on the left, Craigleigh Gardens, which offers a great view of the valley.
If instead you continue on the Beltline, it's flat and follows the creek for about 1k. Your dog can enjoy a cooling splash. The trail then comes to a busy road. IF you are brave enough to cross it (there is no pedestrian crosswalk or lights) you will enter another park called David Balfour Park.
The Beltline trail system is great and will give both you and your dog plenty of exercise.

    Icy and full of poop

We visited this park during the winter and were the only ones there. No other dogs to play with and it was very icy and hard to walk around. Parking is not free. The off leash area is a great size though and it would probably be lovely in the summer. Lots of trees to run around and explore and a very different kind of park than most off leashes we have been to. If only there wasn't so much poop everywhere and overflowing garbage cans!

    Stay away from Brickworks Dogpatch

Just visited (June 2011) and will never go back. This small, mosquito-infested "park" is noisy (next to the DVP), concrete-like dirt broken up by a few stagnant pools of putrid water surrounded by mud. They charge $2 an hour for parking for this excuse for a dog-park. Not worth the trip.

    Brickworks park

The picture shown is of the Brickworks park which is a lovely walk but on leash only. The off leash area is west of the parking lot, fully and safely fenced. Lots of trees but bare dirt due to use, can be really muddy after rain and icy in winter. If you walk north up the path there is another smaller fenced off leash area for dogs, very wild with a stream running through it. We let our dogs run off steam in the off leash area and then walk on leash on the pathways that run through the valley. It's best feature is the fact that it is fully fenced and safe if your dog is new to off leash. Lots of garbage cans are provided, as well as plastic bags.
