New River Trail State Park

The New River Trail State Park is one of 1600 rail-trails supported by Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, a nonprofit organization that is working to create a nationwide network of trails from former rail lines and connecting corridors. Previously an unused railroad corridor, this "rail-trail" is now a great place to walk Fido in Pulaski! The map below shows a trailhead where you can pick up the New River Trail State Park. Rails-to-Trails Conservancy has generously provided map data for this trail to Bring Fido for informational purposes only. For more detailed trail information, please visit TrailLink.com. A very pleasant walk in a beautiful mountain town

My dog and I started at the railroad station in Pulaski and walked a round trip of about 2.6 miles along the rail trail. It goes much much further than that, and is a level walk along the stream, and occasionally through woods, ballfields and small parks. On this Sunday afternoon we saw no one else on the trail, but did not feel at all uneasy. There was a very welcome absence of the trash and litter along the trail.
