Several different trails to choose from at the Staunton River Battlefield. You can start on the Charlotte County side of the River at Randolph Station and walk the old railroad bed to the Bridge across the Staunton River. The old railroad bed crosses through the River’s low grounds with multiple spots along the way where it is completely shaded by the trees overhang. One can see site of the old Native American archaeology dig near the River. Cross the Staunton River and you may be able to catch an Eagle sighting. Once on the Halifax side, the old Fort is to the left. If you keep walking, take in the Battlefield trail that offers great views of the Railroad Trestle Bridge. Continue off the Battlefield Trail to a quick one mail loop that takes you down in woods and forested/swampy low grounds. Great trails and location - See a sky how it is supposed to be experienced - without pollution.
