Larkin State Park Trail

The Larkin State Park Trail is one of 1600 rail-trails supported by Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, a nonprofit organization that is working to create a nationwide network of trails from former rail lines and connecting corridors. Previously an unused railroad corridor, this "rail-trail" is now a great place to walk Fido in Southbury! The map below shows a parking area with convenient access to the Larkin State Park Trail. Rails-to-Trails Conservancy has generously provided map data for this trail to Bring Fido for informational purposes only. For more detailed trail information, please visit TrailLink.com. Great Path

Ready nice, wide path. Not asphalt. Tree lined. Walkers, bikers, other dog walkers, there were even signs of horses who had traveled the path earlier that morning.
The only reason why I gave 4 bones instead of 5 is because it was really difficult to find the entrance where to park. Better location/directions would be helpful.

    Great trail

This unpaved trail is a treat for my beagle. He absolutely loves it. If you decide to start in Southbury, you can enjoy 14 miles of beautiful scenery (one way). Make sure you bring bug spray and a water bottle/dish for you dog (no clean water source). The trail doesn't get very crowded, but you may pass some joggers and bikers. No motorized vehicle allowed. Be prepared for road crossings. Limited parking at most of the crossings.
