Chase Trail

The Chase Trail is one of 1600 rail-trails supported by Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, a nonprofit organization that is working to create a nationwide network of trails from former rail lines and connecting corridors. Previously an unused railroad corridor, this "rail-trail" is now a great place to walk Fido in Talkeetna! The map below shows a parking area with convenient access to the Chase Trail. Rails-to-Trails Conservancy has generously provided map data for this trail to Bring Fido for informational purposes only. For more detailed trail information, please visit TrailLink.com. Incorrect Information

While the Chase trail IS a good dog walk, there are some things you should know: It is NOT a rails-to-trails former railbed, rather a trail alongside a set of RR tracks that is very much alive and in use daily. Pedestrians and their dogs must stay OFF the tracks!
Secondly, the land adjoining this trail is private property, and those of us who live on it do not take kindly to loose dogs, woodcutting, target practice, trash....etc
Third, there are bears. And moose. Be aware, and have your dog under control.
If you encounter people driving atvs, be aware that they are going to and from their homes - they are not joyriding on your hiking trail - you are hiking on their ATV trail.
