Wow! Absolutely loved this park. Extra large open field, beautiful wooded area and a small obstacle course. We walked the perimeter trail twice which is well manicured and flat. Water spigots for doggies and flushing toilet restrooms. Free parking, easy to find and really nice people and their pets.

Love this dog park. I have been going to Fort Steilacoom since I was a kid for to play on the outdoor equipment and family dogs to walk around the loops, and now I get to enjoy it exactly the same as an adult with my own fur kid. The walking is nice and I love that there are multiple sectioned off portions to walk with your dog. I personally tend to walk around the water first before I bring my pup into the off leash area as in my experience there are always ALOT of dogs here. Additionally I have found a handful of times some dogs that don’t do the best here and are often either overwhelmed or over stimulated and act out, but it’s not their fault and that can happen anywhere. The park features some slightly wooded areas to walk through, poop bag and can stations, water supply areas, and a small set of agility equipment. Always a great go to option for us!

This park feels like a giant prairie - perfect for my two aussie cattle dogs to feel like they’re in their natural habitat. Well maintained, with natural brush and folliage that makes the grounds feel wild and free.
Will definitely be going back.
- ChristinaOct 26, 2021HUGE park, clean, great dogs and people
This park is HUGEEEEE.
Lots of space for the dogs to run. it’s fully fenced even though it doesn’t seem like it. The dogs and people there are great. It is clean, not poop everywhere and even has an outdoor agility course. Highly recommend. - HaleyNov 7, 2020Great For My Boys
I brought my boys for 2 hours as they explored every inch. there was so much space that dogs didn’t get territorial like you see in other parks.

Loved it!! Will be relocating to the area soon and was so pleased to find this dog park. It's huge!! Lots of space w/mazes of berry patches and shrubs, an agility course, covererd gazebo, walking paths and benches here and there should you need to sit down. My dog Jax loved it as well and we will definitely be repeat customers. 🐶

Beautiful park that has hosted benefits for the Humane Society. We took our dog. They put out water dishes and there is plenty of poop bags. Beautiful and peaceful area for a dog.

Quite large for this area. Beautiful grounds. Opportunities to walk a loop or just hang out and throw a ball.
- KimApr 28, 2019The Best!
We lived in WA for 2.5 years and would drive the near hour to get here just since our dogs loved it so much. HUGE spaces for dogs to run around, separate area for smaller dogs, agility course, brushes for those foraging dogs. Every owner (and dog) I have met is friendly, and respective of the space.

This is a great park. Countless thanks to the people who had the foresight to put this in place and keep it so well maintained. There are three sections -- one for micro-dogs and two others, one 3-4 acres and the other...just huge (16 or 17). It is well-landscaped with benches, trees, long grass and open areas.
In terms of aggressive dogs and their irresponsible owners that is not the fault of the park and should not considered in ratings for the park, proper.
In terms of dogs who do not like to share their toys and suggestions they should not be brought to the park: better would for all pet parents to bring toys for their own dogs to play with. And sorry, if I don't know your dog, I don't want his or her mouth/saliva on my dog's toy. What is more, if you dog is trying to take another dog's toy, your dog is in the wrong. This behavior should be corrected before the dog comes to the park and certainly no later than at it.

This dog park is the best around the Tacoma/Lakewood area. It has wide open spaces all fenced, the people are friendly and the place is clean due to the fact that MOST owners pick up after their dogs. There are separate areas for small dogs, large dogs, and even senior dogs if you wish. The park has poobags located around the park and disposal areas (cans) at strategic locations. There is water available and covered seating. There are also many benches around the park where people can rest while their dogs play. Chris Guppy is President of the dog park and does a wonderful job maintaining the park and facilities. This park is truly OUTSTANDING.

What a fabulous park! We are staying in Tacoma for one night, but have visited the park twice! Lakewood is very lucky to have such a great place to take your dogs. We will be back!

This dog park is amazing, I just wish I lived closer! Huge fenced in area with trails, benches in the shade to sit on while your dog explores, and there's almost always fresh water available for the dogs. I have never had any issues here, and we go once or twice a week. My boy loves it!
- GracieMore than a year agoAggressive dogs lately
This is a fantastic park when people do not bring there aggressive dogs to it. My puppy got attacked today because a dog didn't want to share its large play toy. Then another joined in attacking my dog. The owners of both dogs said nothing. The woman just kept talking on her phone and the other owner just let his dog at mine over and over. My bleeding dog and I were the ones that left, while the others said nothing. If your dog is aggressive and cant share a ball then dont bring them.
- CherieMore than a year agoGreat Park!!!
I was nervous to bring my dog but it was a very pleasant experience. The large dog area was very clean and the only messes I saw that hadn't been picked up were from obviously small dogs.
- MijoMore than a year agolg. dogs attacking sm dogs
Its a great dog park and the only reason i don't rate it w/5 bones is because of the fact that owners of the big dogs insist on being in the area where the sm. dogs play. They scare the little dogs that like to play as well, but the big dogs ruin this for them. There is another fenced open area behind the front smaller part, for the bigger dogs. These dogs get out of hand and causes havoc and ruin what is suppose to be enjoyable for the little guys as well. If this problem were addressed then this would be worthy of % bones, but when we have to leave after 10 - 15 min. because of irresponsible dog owners that fail to control their large dog but instead let it beat up - chew up a little dog as if it is a chew toy is what is holding this park back from being a great place.
- BrockMore than a year agoOUTSTANDING!!
Great park! there is a football sized park for the small dogs and a huge 7 to 8 acre park for the big dogs with walking trails, water and benches scattered around the park. love it!!!!
