Great Place For A Drink With The Dog
The Beer VaultSpacious tap room with lots of seats in the house. There’s a nice outdoor patio area with some privacy fencing around it, and some outdoor patio spots on the water side of the building. Unfortunately they don’t serve any food, but welcome food from outside and with many wonderful options like Dexters Drive In, the local taco Truck, and more theres options! They have a big water bowl if your pup needs a drink and had Trivia on a Thursday night when we were there. We will definitely go again, the sunset over the Purdy Spit was beautiful and such a nice facility with friendly staff!
Fenced Off Sand Spot
Chambers Creek Regional Park Off Leash AreasI like the area itself a lot, the golf course looks nice, there are plenty of places to sit and have a picnic or family gathering. Lots of area to walk around on sidewalk. The place is very clean, and the bridge with locks to the beach is very fun. We enjoyed the beach and water more than the dog park, but fair warning, wear thick shoes if it’s low tide, because those rocks are ankle breakers for sure on the beach. The off leash dog area has chain link fence all the way around and has tennis balls supplied by a club for your pup to enjoy. There is a water spigot inside for the dogs. The area for off leash is not very big in my opinion, and didn’t have anything exciting to it because it’s just sand, no grass anywhere, and no additional amenities like agility equiptment or interactive features. It was nice because nobody else was there when we went so we enjoyed running in the sand for 5 minutes before we decided to walk over to the water and play. Gave it 3 Stars instead of 2 because the beach was the best part, the park was just small and not very exciting. But I will say I’m still thankful for somewhere to go that’s well kept and clean, and thankful that it’s still an option for people to get out and be with their dog.
Huge Dog Park
Fort Steilacoom Dog ParkLove this dog park. I have been going to Fort Steilacoom since I was a kid for to play on the outdoor equipment and family dogs to walk around the loops, and now I get to enjoy it exactly the same as an adult with my own fur kid. The walking is nice and I love that there are multiple sectioned off portions to walk with your dog. I personally tend to walk around the water first before I bring my pup into the off leash area as in my experience there are always ALOT of dogs here. Additionally I have found a handful of times some dogs that don’t do the best here and are often either overwhelmed or over stimulated and act out, but it’s not their fault and that can happen anywhere. The park features some slightly wooded areas to walk through, poop bag and can stations, water supply areas, and a small set of agility equipment. Always a great go to option for us!
Fun Forest Walk
Rotary Bark ParkBoth times I have gone, there isn’t a lot of dog traffic. This is a great place to go let your dog run along the trails with you and sniff and explore a safe forest environment that is fenced. There is a large dirt area in the “center” of the park that does have a covering if it’s raining out. I tend to not spend much time here and just keep walking as my dog doesn’t generally want to play. There are many different routs and trails to choose from and inclined to keep it interesting. There are poop bag stations and places to access water. I’ve never had an issue with prowlers in the parking lot, but I understand it can still happen.
