We love the Windham Rail Trail! almost the entire trail is shaded by surrounding trees which makes walks in the summer much more pleasant. Dogs should be kept on leash however, since there is a ton of activity on the trail…kids, bikes, joggers, other dogs, rollerblading, etc. Be sure to bring water and poop bags with you as there are not any provided. They do have garbage cans at the parking lot for you to dispose of you left dogs waste. The main parking area has enough space for 20 cars - I’m guesstimating here. Overall, we really enjoy visiting the wide, paved trail with our pup!

Since the only review for this trail is ten years old I felt the need to post a current one because this trail is fabulous! Clearly a lot has changed since then. The trail is very well maintained. I love walking down it with my two dogs because once you cross the overpass near Rt 111 it’s very peaceful being in the woods and hearing the birds singing and the other various sounds of nature. and I love that it’s paved so it doesn’t get muddy when it rains.
