Located in Steamboat Springs, CO, hikers can follow this 6-mile out and back trail where dogs are welcome, and may be off-leash in some areas. Great place, terrible road
So the trail itself is absolutely gorgeous with beautiful lakes and me and my dog saw a moose on the way to lake elmo. But the road to get to the trailhead is a 4.5 mile bumpy road that takes around 45 minutes to get down as well as some very serious maneuvering. It was not muddy when I went down and I did make it in my Honda cr-v but it was definitely risky and needs higher clearance to safely drive.
