Hike is absolutely challenging, but worth it. I've made the hike several times with my dog and have had no issues. There are many spots over the last couple of miles with needing to traverse over rocks and a steady incline. The rocks at the top of S. Boulder aren't the best for dogs, but you can make it all but the last 100 ft up without issue. Great hike if you and the pooch are up for the challenge.

Great hike, however I brought the dog along with me on South Boulder Canyon trail and he was struggling on the last 1.5 up due to the rocks, so I turned around. I would not recommend bringing dogs if you want to make it to the peak.

This is a great hike for the 2 legged. I would caution anyone taking Fido. There is not much in the way of water on this hike. Bring LOTS of water for you and the dog and don't forget your collapsable bowl. I see way to many over heated dogs making this hike. It's a tough one! DO NOT try to get your dog up the rock pile at the top of Bear or South Boulder it can end badly. I love this hike but I leave the dog (a lab) at home in the summer, even starting early AM.
