Iron Mountain Trail

Iron Mountain Trail is a dog-friendly, moderately easy, 5.75 mile hike in Poway, CA, that will take about 2.5 hours to complete with Fido. This is a very popular trail that is clearly marked. If your dog is used to trails it should be okay on his paws, if not you may want to work him up to it. There is a shorter trip to the Ramona overlook on the same trail. Visit Website

Love this hike when its not too hot

6mile hike (3up / 3back), 1000ft elevation gain. Definitely best to take the pups in the fall, winter, or spring, as it can get quite hot in the summer (when temps can be 15-20 degrees hotter than at the beaches). I've hiked the dogs here on cool days, and at night. Good times to be had by all as long as your dog is friendly and doesn't have issues with other dogs or people (it is a popular trail, so there will frequently be folks & pups passing close by you in the opposite direction on the moderately narrow trails). Bring plenty of water for your furballs. Trashcans to dispose of your poop bags available at the top of the trail and at the entrance to the trail.

    Great Hiking

Great place to bring your dog to hike. Very busy on the weekends and can get hot so bring lots of water. Easy parking off the 67. People do bring big dogs (some not so friendly) so make sure your able to control your dog. Great experience every-time we visit.
