My boyfriend and I took our 4 month old husky on this hike and she loved every minute of it. We went on a Saturday around 2pm and there was a handful of other people walking the trail. Not too busy which is great for our rescue. (She's still warming up to other people.) We met another puppy along the path. Mid-December the weather is a little cool, but nothing a few layers can't keep you warm from. There was some snow along the path and our husky's first time encountering it. She loved walking through the clear water at the waterfall. The path is straightforward and easy to distinguish as it's been walked a bunch. There are some steep areas around the waterfall and outhouses near the entrance of the path. Like the other review said, bring a towel; our Fido's legs were covered in mud and dirt. Would definitely come back here and recommend. It's quiet and serene. The views of the mountains are outstanding.

This is one of my favorite hikes! I've been coming here for 12 years now and recently brought my mini schnauzer with me. He did great on the trail (but bring a towel - especially for extra fluffy Fido's- since there are a couple of water crossings). If you go in the early morning hours during the week you'll have the trail all to yourself!
