    we loved this trail!

this trail is WONDERFUL! lots of tree cover to provide shade (imperative with a black dog in the summer!), ponds and lakes for my pup to refresh in and cool down, and a beautiful open meadow of tall grass and wildflowers towards the end of the hike, with the trail traveling adjacent to farmland with a great views (next time we will be bringing a blanket and a picnic lunch)...this hike has it all. and for those looking to extend the hike or for a bit more of a challenge, you can catch the AT and travel that for however long you and your dog's legs can carry you. we hiked the AT for about 3-4 miles north before turning back to continue on the fahnestock loop, so, it ended up being about a 13 mile hike for us. can't wait to come back, especially for fall foliage, but hopefully even before then!
