- KelliNov 22, 2023Easy drive from anywhere
I'm not much of a woods person due to snakes, however I'm hoping they've gone away for the colder weather. That being said, my dog Juni and I found the trail easy to navigate due to the red circle markings all the way through the trail. They made a directionally challenged person such as myself not afraid of losing the trail. I did find the trail challenging in places, but that won't stop Juni and I from walking the trail again. That's why I gave 5 bones.
- LarryMore than a year agoGreat trails to exercise your pup!
Occoneechee Mountain State Park has a variety of trails with different lengths and terrains to exercise you and your canine training partner. The trails vary from riverside to mountain paths. Be prepared for varying weather -NC is known for its crazy changes and this park has its own microclimate. Note that there is a great meadow with ponds but you can't swim or let Fido off leash, the only reason this is 4 bones. Park opens at sunrise and closes at sunset and the ranger on duty patrols regularly. Restrooms and water available at the parking lot. Drive is gravel it paved. Plenty of wildlife and scenic views.
