Please be aware that you must have a registration card from the city to enter the park. Looked very nice and was busy. We were just passing through and just wanted to give our dog a reprieve from the car ride. Unfortunately we found out about the registration from the sign on the gate door.

A lovely enclosed space with an area for big dogs and another for little ones. Getting a permit for access is worth it if you don't mind the hassle and the drive.
- AdrienneApr 6, 2022Need vaccination record
Before you can get a temp permit you must bring current vaccination record to administration office. You’ll use a key card to enter. it’s a very well maintained large grassy park with some shade. Pools, seating, and dog wash sprayer provided.

I have been a member of City Bark for the better part of five years. I love the space, and love that they continuously work to improve the park. There are certainly some headaches - the doors used to break all the time, mud pits, some folks entering with dogs who have larger balls in their scrotum than some of the tennis balls in the park. But my pups love this place, and I do, as well.
I do think some of these lower reviews from travelers who did not plan appropriately are a bit ridiculous and should be removed.

ITs a beautiful park. Dogs and owners well behaved. Everyone picked up.
- ElkeJun 1, 2019Can only get a permit during the week
It’s annoying that I couldn’t get a visitors permit during the weekend, while I’m visiting New Orleans. Now I know that I have to research everything before I actually go somewhere. Very inconvenient for visitors
- ChristyMore than a year agoGreat place!
We just stopped here with our 2 medium sized dogs on our way driving from ATL to Palm Springs. I didn't begin researching dog parks in NO until about 6 AM that morning. I was really disappointed to read the reviews about it being a hassle for visitors to get a permit, because it wasn't at all. I emailed the site and someone named Jackie responded immediately with all the information we needed. The administration office is in a new building really close to the dog park. The paperwork is easy and paying $10.00 is well worth it. The only reason I didn't give this park 5 bones was because in comparison to a park we stopped at in Montgomery, Alabama. It wasn't as nice as that, but it was still a really nice park with big open spaces, sand to dig and a dog wash.

The park is well kept and has lots of great features like the sand pit for digging, the HUGE open area for running, and my pups' favorite- doggie pools. I also really like the dog wash stations, and the fact that the other dogs have their shots too. I disagree with the reviewers who say it's hard to get a permit, I went to the office, which is just on the other side of the railroad tracks, and got one in 5 minutes. If you call the office they'll even have it ready when you get there.

We took the time to get a guest pass to this amazing park. Pass process includes proof of shots, etc. We go back every year and this is one of our favorites spots to visit.

In answer to Earl from NY. Visitor permits can be arranged online and advance of your visit to New Orleans. Passes can be picked up at the dog park office M-F or arrangements can be made in advance to get the pass after hours by calling the office (504) 483-9377.

NOLA Dog Bark has a hassle-free guest membership. We sent our application and got our guest membership in plenty of time for our annual trip. Well worth it!!!
- MeaganMore than a year agoGreat Park
This is a beautiful, well-kept park that is well worth the membership fees. While their rules may seem strict at first (dogs must be fixed, have vet records and at least 6 months) this is all to ensure safety since there are usually 50 dogs present. The bathing station is one of its best features.

The low rating is because we never got into it. It looks like an absolutely beautiful park, but if you're a traveler, forget it. Not until you get to the gate do you find that a license is required, to be purchased in downtown New Orleans, with records required. For residents, great. Not for travelers, and not very friendly on the part of the city.
- CaseyMore than a year agoHas everything
Green manicured grass. Regular flea spraying, sand play pit, hills, lots of shade, benches and chairs, covered shelters with table and fans, wash station, bathrooms, separate small and large dog play area, water play area, obstacle course. All in beautiful City Park. There is a fee, but short term permits can be purchased for visitors. Call them.

While it requires membership and is logisticly problematic to get to it is clean for that reason, You really need a car to get there even from the city park area. The dogs tend to be clean, well cared for, and healthy. Not likely to transmit fleas. Well mannered dogs. Seperate area for small dogs. Water fountains for people and dogs, Seating, shade and doggy bags. Lots of room for dog to really open up and run.

The cost is $43/year ($38 if your a City Park member). Not worth the logistics hassle if you don't live on the East Bank. Doesn't accept puppies that aren't spayed or neutered yet. Why don't they have a separate play area for puppies?
- CamilleMore than a year agoCorrection!
To correct the below entry. I meant the difference between fight and play. There rarely are any reall fights with the dogs. They are just getting a great workout with eachother!
- CamilleMore than a year agoWonderful place for dogs!!
This is the nicest dog park I've been to. The dogs are very friendly and all seem to have a great time. There is a small obstacle course and a water fountain and a sand pit. Dogs are required to be spayed and neutered to decrease the amount of aggression with so many dogs interacting. Parents are quick to break up fights and very understanding of the difference between work and play. I'd rather pay to go here than go free to a place that neither my dog nor I enjoy. You won't regret the membership.

Private owned park requires payment of membership fee for use. Not open to non-residents. Dogs must be spayed or neutered. Very nice appearing park. Unfortunate that it is not available to people visiting. I have a Champion male English Setter that I breed, so I do not intend on having my dog neutered just to enter this park.
- DeanMore than a year agoBest Dog Park in the South
This park is the first of its kind in the area and wins hands down. There is so much for your dog to do. Small and large gated dog areas, restrooms, spraying fountains, and more. Its worth a trip!
