I originally gave this park a 5 but with all the clearing of the thick shrubs and trees, I give it a 3. The clearing of the small trees and bush in the last 3 years is a great example of making a great park into an average one. Both sides of the large dog areas are now clear of bushes and small trees. In the spring dogs used to blaze lots in of paths and tunnels through the under growth and tall grass. Now they lose interest quickly since the area is mostly lawn with little area to explore. I used to go there 3 or 4 times a week traveling 12 miles one way but my dogs don’t run and explore like they used to so it’s not worth my time to take them there. Another problem is the reduced amount of shade. The hot sunny days are a little brutal.

People are awesome at this dog park! The dog park in the town east of here the people are boujee, but ar this one the people rock. My dogs love to run along the fence down the middle. We often use either side depending on the crowd. I highly recommend this dog park!

My dogs love this park because they can run up and down the hills, hunt through the tall grass, brush, and woods and chase each other along the long stretches of open areas. They are able to get their exercise and satisfy their hunting instincts. An occasional rabbit or squirrel gets into the park and creates a lot of excitement. This is the best dog park of the Forest Preserve with Hammel Woods next.
- MonicaJul 27, 2018Park is great, some owners are eeehh
We give the actual park 5 bones, some of the owners 1 bone.
We have a puppy that is a little too rambunctious for the small dog side, so we played on the big dog side the first time there.
The dog owners were super friendly and their dogs were so well behaved and played great with our smaller puppy.
The second time we were there we went to the small dog side were our puppy was well, playing like a puppy. Nothing too rough. The next thing we knew everyone took their smalls dog to the big dog side.
We felt VERY ostracized.
From now on we will stay in the large dog side as our puppy gets along great with them and the owners are more laid back.

This is the BEST dog park in the area. Great fun and exercise for both the four legged and two legged. The large dog park has a huge fenced in trail area for off leash fun. The park is very clean and well maintained. Everyone picks up after their pets. Bags are supplied. Love this park. We go daily in all weather.

My people took me to Messenger Marsh today and I had a fun,fun time meeting a lot of new friends. The people were respectable and friendly and the dogs were great fun. Bring your own water. Well worth the small will county permit fee.
