  Some Additional Information - good for short visits and quick exercise

  The Apollo Crater is good if you have a dog who has good recall and/or is not a runner (away from you, I mean). The park is basically a big grassy bowl (with some trees around the upper lip, which is great for owners on a hot day!). There is a childrens park on the edge of the bowl at the back (along the path that goes around the top), and there are no fences to the residential streets. But, if your dog is happy to stick nearby (relatively), or likes to run after a ball, or just likes to play with other dogs, this is a great place for a quick romp with your dog. If you are looking for an option with more trees in Orleans (Ottawa), consider checking out Heritage Park on Orleans Blvd. It has the woods and ravine, plus a big open field (although the field backs onto the Blvd at the far end).
