Pet Friendly Purgatory Trail NC ZOO
Purgatory Trail NC ZOO The trail begins at the north end of the Zoo's North America Region parking lot and extends a mile to the top of Purgatory Mountain. The first 1/8 mile of the trail is accessible for wheelchair users with a wide, level gravel-paved path. This portion ends at a service road (please do not walk down the service road to the parking lot). The Purgatory Trail then continues uphill to the top of scenic Purgatory Mountain and is a fairly easy walk. Dogs are welcome and must be leashed at all times. Deep River Rail-Trail The Deep River Rail-Trail is one of 1600 rail-trails supported by Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, a nonprofit organization that is working to create a nationwide network of trails from former rail lines and connecting corridors. Previously an unused railroad corridor, this "rail-trail" is now a great place to walk Fido in Ramseur! The map below shows a parking area with convenient access to the Deep River Rail-Trail. Hedgecock Park Fido is welcome inside the enclosed Dog Park at Hedgecock Park in High Point, NC. Open from sunrise until sunset, dogs can play in two fully fenced off-leash areas designated for small dogs weighing 20lbs and under, and larger dogs exceeding 21lbs. The park has pet foundations, a waste station, shaded areas and bench seating. Before using the park, dogs must be registered with the local Parks & Recreation Department.
