Dog-Friendly Activities in Auburn, NY

The Auburn-Fleming Trail is one of 1600 rail-trails supported by Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, a nonprofit organization that is working to create a nationwide network of trails from former rail lines and connecting corridors. Previously an unused railroad corridor, this "rail-trail" is now a great place to walk Fido in Auburn! The map below shows a parking area with convenient access to the Auburn-Fleming Trail. Fido is invited to play at Lakeside Dog Park in Auburn, NY. This off-leash dog park is located inside Emerson Park, a 135-acre recreational area. The dog park includes two sections for large and small dogs, where each provides shade, benches and waste stations.

Paddle with your pooch in a rental from Owasco Paddles on beautiful Owasco Lake in Emerson Park. Dogs can borrow a canine life jacket and float by your side in an old school canoe, kayak or paddleboard around the lake, before stopping off at Lakeside Dog Park for a game of fetch.

Leashed dogs are welcome on the pet-friendly grounds of Harriet Tubman National Historical Park in Auburn, NY. You and Fido can view the exteriors of historic locations including Harriet Tubman's home and church. Pets aren't permitted inside the buildings or the Fort Hill Cemetery. Ludovico Sculpture Trail is a dog-friendly, 1.5 mile walking trail along the Cayuga-Seneca Canal in Seneca Falls, NY. It is a part of the New York State Canal System and is the only trail in the system to have sculptures. The trail can be found off Bridge Street just north of W Bayard Street.

Fido can join you in designated areas of the dog-friendly Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge in Seneca Falls, NY. Leashed dogs are only permitted on the Seneca Trail and Refuge entrance road. Please remember to clean up after Fido.
