Grays Peak Trail Grays Peak Trail is a moderately easy, 6.4-mile, out-and-back hike in Fawnskin, CA. This dog-friendly trail is located within the San Bernardino National Forest and will take about 3.5 hours to complete with Fido. This trail is on the north side of the lake and will actually lead you to the backside of the mountain where water views disappear. However, losing the view of the water is worth the peace, quiet, and open vistas that take its place. This area is subject to closure due to habitat protection. Since this trailhead is within the bald eagle habitat, it's closed during the nesting season from winter to spring, sometimes extending into summer. See Details

This is a great trail for beginners and the trail is popular for all types of people from runners to families. During the week the trail is fairly desolate. The trail starts off HWY 38 about .2 miles west of Stanfield Cutoff and is well marked and has plenty of parking at the trailhead. Leashed dogs are allowed. Sugarloaf Mountain Trail Sugarloaf Mountain Trail is a difficult 11.6-mile hike in Big Bear, CA. This dog-friendly trail is located within the San Bernardino National Forest. There's no need for a permit when hiking this peak, the highest outside of the National Forest. The trail will take you on a very rocky path through the alpine forest. Be sure to bring plenty of water and check Fido's paws frequently. This area is subject to seasonal closure due to weather conditions. This trail is located within the San Bernardino National Forest and will take about 9.5 hours to complete with Fido. Many hikers use this as training for Mount Whitney. Within the half mile after crossing Mill Creek, you will gain 1000 feet in elevation as you switchback into the San Gorgonio Wilderness. See Details
