Gettysburg National Military Park Probably the most famous American battlefield, Gettysburg marked the turning point in the Civil War. Later, President Lincoln gave his famous Gettysburg Address here. Dogs are allowed to visit the outside portions of the battlefield on leash. They are not allowed into buildings or the cemetery. The main attractions of this picturesque park are the 42-acre man-made freshwater lake and the white sandy beach. There are eleven miles of hiking trails that weave around the surrounding woodland, considered to be moderate to strenuous, so you and your pooch should expect some fairly steep hills and rocky terrain. You'll also discover a portion of the Appalachian Trail on and around Bartman's Hill. Pets are allowed in the Cedar and Dogwood camp loops, on trails outside the day-use area, and in the day-use areas and lake.
