Altar Rock Heading out of town on the Polpis Road, look for Quaise Road about 3.5 miles from town on your left. On your right, directly across from Quaise Road, is the unmarked Alter Rock Road. Drive in here, and park in one of the two parking lots. This path is actually a road, and because the parking lot is a tad close to the Polpis Road, you may want to leash up here.

Milestone Cranberry Bogs This walk takes you around the many acres of cranberry bogs. It’s wide open mown grass and dirt paths and great for letting your dog run off some steam. It would be a good place to throw a frisbee or Chuckit, too. Sometimes there are deer here, especially in the early evening, so leash up your dog if it is one to chase them. At certain times of the year, the bogs will be closed due to flooding and at other times due to pesticide application.

The Wave - Nantucket Regional Transit Authority Catch The Wave with Fido, Nantucket island's pet-friendly public bus service. Dogs must be dry, leashed or caged. They are not allowed in passenger seats. Dog owners can leave their vehicle at a Park and Ride Lot and hop on The Wave. Fares vary by route, and cost-effective passes are available. Masquetuck Trail The trail is very short, but the views of West Polpis Harbor are worth the trek. Take any of the paths and follow them along. You really can’t get lost. Traipse over boardwalks, through a deciduous forest, with mushrooms, ferns, and lots of mossy tree roots. There are a few places where the trail comes out to the shore of Polpis Harbor. At low tide, you can walk along the shore for a bit, or stay on the trail for the beautiful view of the harbor.
