Pet Friendly Fishers Island
Fishers Island Catch the island ferry in New London, CT. The ferry welcomes dogs on board, with a leash, at no extra charge. Once arriving on the island, visitors can walk to the small village (15 min walk) or head over to dog-friendly South Beach near Elizabeth Airfield. The beach is a bit rocky but dogs can go off-leash. Visitors can spot birds, view beautiful homes or shop at the village green with their dogs. Plenty of spots to tie up your dog and give them shade on the village green while visiting local merchants. Visit Topper's Ice Cream shop and order "the dog bowl" with ice cream named after different dog breeds. Dogs are also welcome to visit the Fishers Island Yacht Club. Thames River Heritage Park Water Taxi Thames River Heritage Park Water Taxi is a dog-friendly attraction in Connecticut. You can hop on the taxi with your pup in your arms or they can walk the plank, oo-arrrr me hearties, safely on and off board instead. Between the hours of 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. the water taxi makes three stops each hour in a continuous hop on-hop off loop beginning and ending at Fort Trumbull. After 7 p.m. the water taxi runs between City Pier, New London and Thames River Landing, Groton every 20 minutes. The area is known for having a colorful and interesting history. Napatree Point Conservation Area Dogs are welcome on the beach at Napatree Point Conservation Area during certain times of the year. They are prohibited from 8am to 6pm, May 2 through Labor Day. The rest of the year they are allowed, on-leash. Dogs are not allowed in roped off areas, as they are home to endangered species. Guests must clean up after Fido during their visit to Napatree.
