The area is made up of prairie, pine, and hardwood forests, easily explorable on the eighteen miles of trails that lead to Old Crow Wing townsite, along the Mississippi River, and through the wooded areas. For an easier trek, there's a ten mile paved bike trail at this location too. Dog owners are reminded to keep their pets on a leash under six feet for the duration of their visit and to clean up any mess that they leave behind.
