Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park is pet-friendly. You can bring Fido to the site that kicked off the gold rush way back in 1948. While John Marshall was building a sawmill at this spot in partnership with John Sutter, he found some gold flecks, news got out, and folks set off from all over the country to get in on the action. Leashed pups can join you exploring on a few trails near the river, but they can't use the trails across the street from the river side. There is a small fee if you want to bring your pooch with you.
