Dog Friendly Hiking Trails Near GYY Airport

Seidner Dune & Swale Nature Preserve in Hammond, IN, features moderately difficult, dog-friendly trails. There's a 0.8-mile loop trail on the old, regraded railroad beds can be used to traverse the property. Enjoy beautiful wildflower displays in the spring, summer and fall.

The Erie Lackawanna Trail is one of 1600 rail-trails supported by Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, a nonprofit organization that is working to create a nationwide network of trails from former rail lines and connecting corridors. Previously an unused railroad corridor, this "rail-trail" is now a great place to walk Fido in Highland! The map below shows a parking area with convenient access to the Erie Lackawanna Trail.
