This 4 mile trail is a moderately challenging route which should take 2.5 hours to complete. April to November is the best time to hike this trail, and dogs are permitted to be off leash in some areas.

The park is accessible via Route 6/Route 93- Golden Gate Canyon Road, and is located about 15 miles from the center of Golden. Rawhide Trail is a beautiful loop with plenty of shade and beautiful views of Denver, Golden and the surrounding mountains. The trail is challenging but not too strenuous, rocky and steep at some points but fairly simple for both dogs and humans to navigate. Lots of flat and downhill terrain throughout the loop.

The Colorado Trail
The Colorado Trail is a pet-friendly trail stretching from Denver to Durango, Colorado. The Colorado Trail Foundation, located in Golden, Colorado can provide you with all the information you need to hit the trail with Fido. Dogs are permitted along most of the trail. Some areas require a leash, but others allow dogs to go off-leash as long as they are controlled by voice command.

Colorado Mines Peak in Idaho Springs, CO, is a pet-friendly, 3-mile hike in Arapaho National Forest that will take about 2 to 3 hours to complete with Fido. The hike to the peak is fairly short, but the views are spectacular and the trailhead is open year round at Berthoud Pass. Be aware that some scrambling is required to get to the rocky summit, but the views at the top are worth it.
