Auburn State Recreational Area Dog-friendly Auburn State Recreational Park spans 20 miles on each fork of the American River near Auburn, CA. Fido is allowed to explore the park, with the exception of Lake Clementine. Once teeming with gold miners, the park now offers lots of opportunities for dogs and their owners to enjoy scenic views from numerous hiking trails. Dogs must be leashed during your visit, and restricted to your vehicle or tent overnight. Leashed dogs are welcome to join their owners as they hike through oak woodlands, pines, grasslands, and over a 40-foot long trestle that replicates the railroad and flume construction techniques of the late 1800s.
