Heckscher State Park Your leashed pup can join you on the pet-friendly nature trails located in the undeveloped areas of Heckscher State Park in East Islip, NY. Pets must be on a leash no longer than six feet. Guests with dogs may park their vehicles in Field 5 during the off-peak season (September to late May) and Field 4 during the peak season (Memorial Day to Labor Day). The dog-friendly trail is accessible from the western section of the Field 5 parking lot. Dogs aren't permitted on the bike path, beach and playgrounds, or in picnic areas, the campground and buildings including the cottages. Proof of vaccination must be produced if requested by staff.
