Dog Events in Avon, NC

This dog-friendly Oktoberfest celebration invites pups and their people to dress in festive Bavarian-inspired costumes featuring lederhosen, pretzels and fall colors. Guests can enjoy a dog ice cream eating contest, an Oktoberfest-themed pet and people costume contest, local vendors, bark bags for registered attendees and plenty of seasonal fun.

Dock Dogs is a dock‑jumping competition featuring Big Air, Speed Retrieve and Extreme Vertical divisions where teams of handlers and dogs compete on a temporary pool set up on the beach. Spectator viewing is free and the event takes place on the Virginia Beach Oceanfront at 14th Street as part of Neptune Festival’s Boardwalk Weekend. The event’s organizer and DockDogs both state that anyone may bring a dog to compete and that viewing is open to the public.

A celebration of flight and beer, OBX Brewtag contestants will be competing to see who can launch and fly an empty 1/6 keg barrel the furthest. Dogs must be leashed and picked up after. A crafty selection of local and regional beer and food will be available for purchase that day.

Bring your adorable Dachshunds (and non-Dachshund friends!) to dash for glory in a morning packed with fun, from races and costume parades to meet-and-greets and awards. Registration starts at 10:0 AM, with races beginning at 11:00 AM. Don’t forget to dress your pup in festive attire; lederhosen and hotdog costumes encouraged!

Bring Fido along to see a light display like no other. This event features large 19-to-30 foot kites decked out in the spirit of the holiday season! At 5:00 PM, enjoy the lighting of the Jockey’s Ridge State Park Solar Christmas tree out on the dunes directly across from Jockey’s Ridge Crossing.

Guests can dress their pups in festive attire and create memorable keepsakes surrounded by beautiful décor, holiday details, and a luxurious atmosphere perfect for celebrating the season. Each session lasts approximately 45 minutes.
